New Unlimited Lives Trick Discovered in Super Mario Bros.

It's amazing that almost 30 years after its release, people are still finding new things in Super Mario Bros. This week, someone figured out a new glitch to let you gain unlimited extra lives.

The trick involves playing as two players. The game must be on Hard Mode (after you beat the game, Goombas turn in Buzzy Beetles, etc). First, Player 1 must reach World 1-2 and then kill themselves. Once you have disposed of the body, make sure Mario dies. Then, Player 2 must travel all the way to World 5-2 and find the hidden beanstalk in the middle of the level. While the beanstalk is still rising, Luigi must be killed by the Hammer Bro's ball peen delight. When Mario reappears in World 1-2, the beanstalk will rise out of the floor, allowing you to climb up a short distance and mash the Buzzy Beetles with your bum.

It probably sound confusing, so have a look at the video below. The good part is at about 2:30.

So there you have it. Clearly, this was done with the help of an emulator (it's nearly impossible to do some of those moves manually). But the glitch should still work, even if it takes you longer than 2:30 to get to the right place.

Makes you wonder what people will find in this game another 30 years from now.
