Nintendo has released the latest update to the Wii U, adding a Quick Start menu and GamePad alerts.
If your Wii U has automatic downloads enabled, the new update should be ready to go next time you turn it on.
The Quick Launch menu can be started from the GamePad directly, and shows the last ten items you played or used. System alerts will also be send directly to the GamePad, even while the system is in sleep mode.
Other updates include a notifications icon on the Home menu, and the option to automatically install system updates in sleep mode.
I for one will be glad to be able to save the 4 or 5 seconds it takes for the system to boot so I can select Mario Kart or NES Remix.
