Minecraft on Wii U or 3DS? It Could Happen

An interview with Miyamoto of Nintendo has shed light on a possible Minecraft for Wii U and/or 3DS.

Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario, Zelda, and many others, has said that there is discussion about bringing the popular blocky game to Nintendo systems.
"We've always thought internally that using the [Wii U] GamePad would probably make for a Minecraft that's very easy to play. And, of course, if we were to do something with Minecraft on the 3DS, similarly we would probably do it where it would be easier to play and could probably reach a lot of kids.
What's interesting is that, in Japan, Minecraft is not popular in the way it is in the U.S. and Europe, so we've also thought that, if we were able to do a partnership like that, it might bring opportunity to help make Minecraft more popular in Japan."
Despite its popularity in the US and Europe, Minecraft is not huge in Japan. A port to Nintendo systems could change that. A Nintendo-specific version might also include Mario or Zelda skins, or perhaps special items.

Then, dropping a hint that is sure to make Minecraft fans drool, Miyamoto said the following:
"Maybe we're meeting with [Minecraft developer Mojang]! Who knows?"
Sounds promising to me! I've always thought it would be amazing to have Minecraft on my 3DS. All the portability with actual button controls instead of wonky touch controls.

Do you want Minecraft on Nintendo systems? And if not, how do you sleep at night?
